I consider that my last class in this third period was excellent because I could teach to students and at the same time, I could enjoy the class. I started the class with a warm-up called ¨Who is it? ¨; students had to make two groups and choose a leader. The leader of each group had to guess the name of some famous people with the help of the group.
Then, I continued the class with some information about the different traditions around the world, and I explained to students three strange traditions using some pictures. Students found very interesting the information, and they make some questions based of that. After explaining students the information, they had to make couples and discuss four questions based on the information about the three traditions.
Moreover, I asked students to share their opinions and answers about the strange traditions that exist around the world, so they were very interested in share their ideas and opinions. Then, I continued the class with a dialogue; I asked students work in pairs. Students practiced the conversation some times because they had to pass to the front and simulate a situation. Unfortunately, just some pairs passed to the front to say the conversation because the time was not enough.
Something that I did not like in my class: I did not like the low participation of some students. I think that it is really important to make students participate during the class, but some students are very shy and quiet. So, it is difficult to treat with this situation.
Something that I liked in my class: I really liked the participation and enthusiasm of the majority of students. During the class, students were paying attention and participating, so it was a really nice class.
I really loved to be part of this group of students because they were very respectful and friendly. They have a lot of knowledge in English.
This semester was special because I had the opportunity to teach English to nice and intelligent people. I learned many things about teaching, and I know that I will learn more important things in the future. I love teaching English.
My second class was better than the first one because I could have the opportunity to interact more with the students. I felt very comfortable and happy with the results at the end of the class.
I remember that I started the class with a warm-up called ¨Reading Together¨. I gave students a reading comprehension about the ways people like to learn English. Every student could read, but she or he had to stop in every period and then another student had to continue with the reading without saying he or she wanted to continue. After the warm-up, I explained students the topic ¨Perfect Modals¨. I prepared some posters to explain grammar and make it easier for students. I tried to explain the topic in a clear and order way, so students understood the topic easily.
Then, I made some practices about Perfect Modals. First, I made a poster with some sentences in which students had to write the correct perfect modals in each of them. As a second practice, I gave students a copy with some sentences that they had to rewrite and complete them. Fortunately, my class was good, and I know students could learn something.
Something that I did not like in my class: I did not like my insecurity. Sometimes it is difficult for me to feel sure about something; for example, when I teach grammar, I feel worried and insecure. So, I have to work on that.
Something that I liked in my class: I really liked the participation of students during the complete class. I observed that the majority of students in this group like to participate in the activities and ask if they have doubts. I enjoyed making this class.
I know that I made many mistakes in this class, but I also learned many important things. I hope to continue giving my best in future classes.
My first class
My first class in this last period was different and interesting because I had the opportunity to know a beautiful group of students.
I started the class with a warm-up called ¨The Bottle¨; I decided to make the activity outside the classroom, so students loved it. Some students had to answer some interesting questions during the development of the activity. Then, I asked students work in their books; students worked in activity about Future Plans. At the end of the activity, students shared their answers of the activity and their opinions about their future plans. Moreover, I gave students a copy with a dialogue in which they had to identify the structure of ¨Future in past¨, and I also asked some students to practice the conversation with their classmates. I could observe that the students were very intelligent and participatory.
Then, I had to explain grammar ¨The future in past¨, so I decided to use a video in order to make something different and more interesting to students. Fortunately, students were very attentive to the video, so they did not have problems to understand the use of future in past. After watching the video, I tried to explain the topic to students with a poster, so they understood more about it. Unfortunately, I did not have time to develop the practices about the topic, but I was satisfied with the class.
Something that I did not like in my class: I did not like the classroom because I consider that it is very small. It is not possible to make activities in which students have to move a lot. Also, it is a very hot classroom, so it is difficult to deal with it.
Something that I liked in my class: I really loved the group of students because they were very friendly, intelligent, respectful, and participatory. I really enjoyed teaching these students; I felt very comfortable with them.
It was a very nice experience in this last period. I hope to make a better effort in my second class.
I like teaching!!
